Kerry Ryan: Owner and Lead Adventurer for Dog Adventures Northwest LLC

Memberships: Association of Professional Dog Trainers; National Association of Pet Sitters; Licensed, Bonded, and Insured through Dog Adventures Northwest

Kerry is Certified Professional Dog Trainer, an outdoor enthusiast, and the proud mama of an awesome dog named Obie. She is a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and was voted the "Best Individual Trainer of the Northwest" by Spot Magazine in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Kerry received a Bachelor's Degree from Brown University, and regularly attends continuing education classes in the areas of dog behavior and learning.

Kerry believes that many canine behavioral problems could easily be alleviated through proper exercise. While many dog owners often meet their dog's basic needs for food, water, love, and boundaries, the average Portland pooch is under-exercised, getting only one or two short leashed walks per day. The truth of the matter is that most dogs need much more than this. Depending on the age, breed, and health of the dog, most dogs need at least one hour of off-leash exercise every single day! To this end, Kerry started Dog Adventures Northwest to make it easier for people to meet the needs of their four-legged family members. She love dogs, has a thorough understanding of canine behavior, and is an avid adventurer, so it was a natural undertaking. Since its inception in the Summer of 2011, there have been many miles of happy trails and even more happy tails.

Memberships: Association of Professional Dog Trainers; National Association of Pet Sitters; Licensed, Bonded, and Insured through Dog Adventures Northwest

Jaime was lucky enough to be raised on a small farm with a menagerie of pets ranging from chickens to horses, ducks to dogs, rabbits to cats—leading to a lifelong obsession with animals and curiosity about their behavior. They have influenced Jaime’s life ever since, leading finally to a career working with animals. Currently, Jaime is in training to become a dog trainer, inspired by their childhood and years of borrowing friends and family's dogs while they worked or travelled. Dogs crave adventure and so does Jaime! Spending so many hours with cats and dogs has lead to many lasting friendships and bonds with “furry nieces and nephews”—most beloved is former roommate Mr Bates (Schnauzer/Jack Russell mix, lovingly called a “Schnack”). Over the past years as a professional dog walker and pet sitter, Jaime has had a multitude of experiences with geriatric and special-needs pets, and loves maintaining a clear line of communication with human clients. Putting minds at ease and handling challenges together is key to excellent animal care. Jaime is looking forward to adventuring and snuggling your pups, and sending you tons of photos along the way!

Memberships: Association of Professional Dog Trainers; Licensed, Bonded, and Insured through Dog Adventures Northwest

Hannah grew up in Dayton, Ohio, in a family of cat lovers. After 14 glorious years with her own feline soul-mate, she decided to switch teams and began volunteering in the dog kennels at Multnomah County Animal Shelter, where she fell in love with a Staffordshire terrier named Lucy. Together, they launched into extensive obedience training, earning their CGC in the process, and canine sports, including agility, flyball, and even sled-pulling. (Looking forward to rally obedience and scent work in 2018!) At Lucy's side, Hannah quickly found a true passion in dog training. She is especially interested in the way humans misinterpret and misrepresent canine behavior and in integrating dog training into everyday life.

Memberships: Association of Professional Dog Trainers; National Association of Pet Sitters; Certification for Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT) pending; Licensed, Bonded, and Insured through Dog Adventures Northwest

Hannah grew up on a small farm where she was surrounded by pets of all sorts: horses, sheep, goats, chickens, cats, crows, rats, snakes and, of course, dogs! When she was just 8 years old and a member of 4-H, she trained her fearful rescue dog Davoika. Through that experience she learned the value of positive reinforcement as a training method. Fast forwarding through many awesome canine companions and a career in nonprofit finance and operations, Hannah decided to trade in the spreadsheet and recommit full-time to her love of all things dog! She recently completed the year-long academic canine behavior training program through Whole Dog Academy and looks forward to completing her CPDT in the spring. Besides taking dogs out for fabulous adventures, she volunteers for the Portland Animal Welfare Team (PAW Team) which provides free veterinary care to the pets of low-income and homeless individuals. She resides with her current bestie, Grimm, her “street dog” rescue with personality and energy to burn!

Certifications:  Certification for Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA); Red Cross Animal First Aid Certified

Memberships: International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants Supporting Member; Association of Professional Dog Trainers; Licensed, Bonded, and Insured through Dog Adventures Northwest

Coralyn is a certified trainer with a serious passion for the science of behavior. She started her canine career in the heart of busy Chicago, and it was there that she learned about the unique needs of dogs living an urban lifestyle. Much of her time was spent training and instructing about the relatively modern phenomenon of “leash reactivity.” After leaving Chicago, she interned at a working dog kennel in West Virginia, where she learned about socialization for future police, military, and sport dogs, odor detection imprinting, and more. Somewhere in the middle of that, she even learned how to clicker-train chickens. Now, in-between training for dog sports and competitions, exploring the trails, and continuing her never-ending journey of education, she enjoys helping humans and their dogs both understand each other better.

Coral knew at a young age that animal care was always going to be a large part of her life. A huge proponent of animal welfare and rescue, Coral has volunteered her time and expertise for several animal rescue teams, big and small.  With over twelve years of experience in animal care, you can rest assured that all your pet’s needs will be met under her care. Jamie Lee Hammon: Pet Sitting

Certifications: Dove Lewis Pet First Aid/CPR

Memberships: National Association of Pet Sitters; Licensed, Bonded, and Insured through Dog Adventures Northwest

Jamie grew up in a dog-centric household, the daughter of a groomer who frequently took her to dog shows, training classes, and field days. Over the years, her family included a frisbee-loving terrier mix, a few Great Danes, two Vizslas, and a pug named Bebe. She was taught to respect dogs, recognize their body language, and understand the distinctions between breeds that influence behavior and personality. She has been a petsitter for neighbors and friends since age 12, and since she doesn’t have any pets of her own at this time, she loves the opportunity to care for dogs and cats while their humans are away. She thinks that nothing makes a rainy-day walk better than bringing a four-legged friend along. Jamie is happy to accommodate pets’ individual needs, and she wants owners to feel secure and confident that their pets and their homes will be well-taken care of while in her care.
